Camp Quest

We’ve reached that time of the summer when we’re having to start saying goodbye! After four fantastic weeks in Canada, our Colombian group departed early this morning. Although they were one of our smaller groups, they made a big splash at Quest, and they will definitely be missed by students, teachers and Quest staff alike. Before they left, we sent them off in style with a farewell party at the famous Hard Rock cafe, where they celebrated the great memories they made in Toronto.

This week we said goodbye to some of our Spanish and Columbian students. These students were lively and active in class, and helped make the summer memorable. We will miss you!

What do you think of when you think of Canada? Ice…snow…nature..the beach? Believe it or not, there are some fantastic beaches in and around Toronto. One of the most popular summer destinations near Toronto is Wasaga Beach, which our groups had a chance to check out. Wasaga Beach is located on beautiful freshwater Georgian Bay, about 2 hours north of Toronto. The white sand beach is over 14 km long and the water is nice and warm – at least for Canada! Our students had a chance to relax and soak up the sun, as well as explore the town, where there are lots of cool beach shops and cafes.

It has been a pretty hot summer so far in Toronto! Luckily, there are lots of great places to cool off. Yesterday, our students went for a swim at one of Toronto’s fantastic outdoor pools. Students took a dip and relaxed poolside. It was a great way to relax and enjoy the fantastic Toronto weather while catching some rays.

No trip to a big city is complete without going shopping, and Toronto is a great place for some “retail therapy”. Our summer campus is just steps away from Toronto Eaton Centre, the largest mall in the city that is a mecca to shoppers from all over. But there’s even better bargains to be found at Vaughan Mills Outlet Mall, just a short bus ride away! Yesterday our students took a trip there to check out the 100+ brand name outlets. Many students took advantage of the great prices, and returned loaded with bags of gifts for their friends and families at home. Surprisingly, one of the most popular stores was Bass Pro Shop, a store specializing in outdoor goods. Reports have it that students were mesmerized by the rows of fishing equipment. Hopefully they can fit it all into their suitcases to take back home!

Quest students know how to party it up in style! One of the most popular activities of the summer is always the Disco Boat Cruise, and this year was no exception. Students boarded a boat at Harbourfront for a 3-hour cruise of Lake Ontario where they could enjoy some spectacular sunset views of the Toronto skyline.

Of course, taking in the scenery wasn’t the only attraction. Students busted a move and danced the night away to some great tunes while the mingled with their classmates. With the recent arrival of groups from Brazil and Italy joining our students from Saudi Arabia, Colombia, United Arab Emirates and Spain, the Disco Boat Cruise was a great way for everyone to bond.

Quest’s Summer Experience program is held on the campus of Ryerson University in downtown Toronto. Just around the corner from Dundas Square and the famous Eaton Centre shopping mall, Ryerson University provides a great place for the students to relax and socialize. Students make the most of their time on campus after class and on break.
